A client asked me for help finding a good tool for assessing employee performance and development needs. Seems most of the stuff out there measured results instead of processes. I looked around and didn’t find anything too terribly exciting so I did a little plagiarizing and a bit of creative thinking and came up with something that fits the bill.
You can see that is takes the assessment criteria and plots it on a graph combining knowledge and culture, which gives a pretty sound indication of someone’s development needs. What I like about it is that it is aimed at measuring knowledge instead of outcomes; very supportive of Management by Means thinking rather than old school Management by Objectives.
